We have a complicated postage system, which I thought would need to be custom built.
Contacted WSA and explained by needs. They suggested this product in conjunction with another.
They setup a test server so I could see it in action. And it worked.
Excellent product for an off the shelf buy. Worth every penny and more.

Magento's native 'Free Shipping' is not quite what it should be. With Karen and the rest of her team's help, We set this extension up and successfully applied Free Shipping on a product level.
Beyond that, the added functionality of being able to set rules to any possible circumstance you might want is AMAZING! They really thought of everything on this one.

If your store has a wide range of products and you're struggling to get accurate shipping prices look no farther than this extension combined with WSA's "Dimensional Shipping". While "Dimensional Shipping" pulls in live rates from UPS/FedEx based on actual box size(s), this "Shipping Override" extension gives you the flexibility to modify those live rates as needed.
In our case we use this extension with about 150 different rules allowing us to do everything from adding on an insurance fee for orders over $1000 to adding surcharges (not visible to the customer) for special items which are not regular box sizes, or which require additional cost on our end, or just a UPS/FedEx special fee.
Don't let the CSV file format scare you, once you get the hang of it, this and "Dimensional Shipping" are the only two shipping extensions you need. - Best Custom Shipping Extension (Posted on 5/10/2012) Review by Levi

After looking over several shipping extensions for implementing flat rate shipping I found Shipping Override. Although it is more expensive than the other options, it's definitely worth it. I looked over the documentation briefly and decided to purchase it and install configure it myself. It was pretty straight forward to be honest. I checked out the .csv format and created one for my needs. Well it didn't work out of the box. I jumped online and looked over the docs, but I didn't see anything that was set up wrong. I jumped online and the chat was active so I hit them up about my problem. After telling the CS rep my setup and what I had configured, he was quick to offer a couple solutions. I had my shipping set to "Ground" when it must match the shipping method exactly (Which is now "UPS Ground"). I felt the documentation could have outlined that a bit better. Also the documentation in regards to the zip code ranges was slightly ambiguous as well but over all, it's WAY more documentation than you'll see on other companies extensions. If you need custom control over your shipping prices on multiple products, look no further.

Works as it's described. The support was very responsive for a few minor glitches (really just misunderstanding how it works - not bugs). It would be nice to have more examples in the sample data as it would be easier to figure out what EXACTLY is needed to do the job.
But in the end I was able to get it to work and do exactly as needed (we ship in US and wanted to prevent ground shipping to non-continental US addresses) which uses only a FRACTION of its potential abilities. Nicely done! - Works well (Posted on 3/20/2010) Review by John

This worked as advertised, with nice documentation. One minor hiccup I had was that I forgotten to disable "Compilation" prior to install, which caused some havoc. Other than that, things went great. Nice job folks!

we are testing "Shipping Override" and "Premium matrix" they both work quite well, but the documentation needs work - took about 3 hours to work out how to get it running right. (Maybe I'm a slow learner) 99% of the examples are not documented, the ones that are documented are not done well - would be better if there were more documents and or video tutorials - I'm sure they are a lot more powerful that what I have got going now.

This extension allows us to customize our shipping prices on the fly per product. We can also mass upload shipping changes with a spreadsheet which speeds up our process.
Some products come from different places and need different shipping rates. This allows us to offer these products and charge more for shipping while still keeping our regular shipping rates for our other products.
This Magento extension does the job and has never had any errors within our Magento install.

We purchased this extension for a client who needed to ship some hazardous products, most of which can not be shipped by air.
By using this extension they can now select the products and apply specific shipping.
Also great one on one support from Karen, highly recommended.
